Our client, a top 100 public accounting and consulting firm, is actively in search of a Tax Supervising Senior. As a Tax Supervising Senior, you will be responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all client tax returns. This role requires advanced technical skills across various tax and accounting areas, as well as strong management and supervisory capabilities. This is a hybrid remote position, in which you will be required to go in-office on occasion.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
  • Assume responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate preparation tasks to other tax staff as needed
  • Assign and oversee tax research projects to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Actively participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts, collaborating with the Auditing and Accounting Department on larger accounts
  • Prepare complex business tax returns
  • Serve as the primary client contact for assigned accounts or as delegated by partners or managers
  • Manage and delegate governmental tax examinations; represent clients before relevant tax authorities when necessary
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the company’s philosophy and positions on tax matters
  • Occasionally travel same-day to client offices, meetings, and seminars
  • Occasionally travel out of town with overnight stays for client work, meetings, or seminars
  • Work occasional overtime throughout the year; significant overtime (exceeding 55 hours/week) may be required from January 1 to April 15
  • Participate in business development through engagement with referral sources, community events, and industry activities
  • Train and mentor senior, semi-senior, and staff accountants
  • Evaluate qualifications of tax staff and assign work accordingly
  • Provide on-the-job training and supervise tax staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations and develop staff training materials
  • Serve as an instructor in internal professional development programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5 years of experience in public accounting
  • 2 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities
  • 1 year supervising and directing the work of tax preparers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in taxation
  • CPA license or eligibility strongly preferred
  • Completion of a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education annually to maintain and enhance technical and business skills
  • Strong client service orientation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Salary Range: $112,000 – $125,000*
