We are seeking a Real Estate Development Associate to support and grow within our client’s Development team. This role reports to the Vice President of Development and plays a key part in managing assigned real estate projects, with a focus on underwriting, scoring, funding applications, and administrative support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically savvy, and motivated to take on increasing responsibility across a variety of development tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining Excel-based development models, including pro forma underwriting and competitive scoring
- Preparing and submitting funding and RFP applications for affordable housing developments
- Developing and tracking project budgets
- Conducting due diligence on potential land and acquisition opportunities in regional markets
- Coordinating development plan approvals with public agencies, consultants, and internal teams
- Attending weekly team meetings and updating project-tracking reports
- Providing general administrative and project support as needed
- Conducting site visits or meetings
For background check purposes, material job duties of this position include supporting the full lifecycle of real estate development projects, including financial modeling, preparing funding applications, coordinating due diligence, and assisting with project approvals. The role requires regular interaction with public agencies, consultants, and internal teams to ensure project milestones are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years’ prior experience in a real estate or construction environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Teams).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, urban planning, construction management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with affordable housing development fundamentals and processes.
- Knowledge of land acquisition and entitlement procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-motivation and a willingness to learn independently and on the job.
- Comfort working collaboratively with local officials, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000*
