We are actively seeking Project Accountants local to San Diego for several upcoming positions with our clients. These are direct hire opportunities, offering hybrid and in-office work arrangements. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Obtain project setup forms from PMs and PICs and establish project records in the accounting system.
  • Input consultant budgets into company ERP and review contracts to validate fees and work breakdown structure.
  • Provide training to PMs on project planning tools and assist with setting up and maintaining project plans in company CRM.
  • Ensure project plans and backlog are updated monthly.
  • Generate project revenue and monitor fees for accurate revenue recognition.
  • Review and approve consultant payables before entry into company ERP and calculate consultant payments.
  • Communicate with PMs and consultants to resolve billing issues and collaborate with the Contracts Administrator on consultant contract matters.
  • Ensure compliance with consultant contracts for invoices and payments.
  • Follow up on pending contracts and authorizations to ensure prompt execution.
  • Maintain organized project contract files in collaboration with PMs.
  • Distribute draft invoices to PMs for review and finalize client invoices with required signatures in the specified format.
  • Update collection projections, interface with clients to monitor payment status, and resolve invoice disputes.
  • Attend monthly review meetings with PMs to address outstanding collections issues.
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable monthly and ensure project revenue and consultant WIP are accurate.
  • Make necessary adjustments to WIP in collaboration with PMs and participate in monthly WIP reviews with the Accounting team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years’ prior project accounting experience.
  • Proficient in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior project accounting experience in real estate development, construction, interior design, architectural or environmental industry.
  • Proficiency project accounting ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Deltek Vantagepoint, Yardi, MRI).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000*

*The above represents the lowest to highest expected salary range for these job openings.
