Our well-established client is seeking a Controller to join their team. As the Controller, you will oversee financial reporting for corporate entities and investment-level partnerships, while also providing guidance to third-party property management companies handling commercial property accounting.

Responsibilities:
- Review financial statements for entities.
- Oversee financial accounting for corporate entities and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and review period-end reports and ensure accurate completion of month-end close processes.
- Train and support third-party property management companies on accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain and reconcile various asset and liability accounts, including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and depreciation schedules.
- Process bank transfers, wire transactions, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor and process commercial loan escrow draws and lender reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit filings to state regulatory agencies.
- Manage payroll processing and new hire onboarding.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5 years of accounting experience in a real estate operating or development company, or third-party property management firm.
- Proficient in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics; Master’s degree a plus.
- CPA, MBA, or prior experience in public accounting.
- Experience with Yardi accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, cash and accrual accounting, and GAAP.
- Experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to analyze commercial real estate transactions and manage loan compliance.
- Understanding of investment structures (LLCs and LPs) and capital waterfalls.
- Strong treasury management experience.
- Hands-on experience with commercial loan documents and lender reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
