Our client is seeking an Accountant to support their Property Accounting team. The successful candidate will collaborate with a dynamic group, managing financial and accounting tasks for a portfolio of properties, including auditing, closing books, preparing financial statements, and maintaining accurate records. This position offers a hybrid work model (4 days onsite/1 day remote), subject to change based on business needs alongside a competitive total compensation package.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain property financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets, in accordance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analysis for assigned portfolios.
- Manage daily property-related accounting operations, ensuring timely processing of invoices, rent collection, and payments.
- Maintain general ledgers, record financial transactions, and reconcile accounts monthly.
- Review lease agreements to ensure accurate accounting for lease-related revenues and expenses.
- Review tenant billings for CAM, property taxes, management fees, insurance, utilities, and other manual charges, ensuring accurate coding and documentation.
- Assist the Asset Management and Property Management teams in preparing annual budgets and CAM estimates.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including property management and finance, to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to department and company deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years of prior accounting experience.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficient in MRI.
- Prior real estate accounting experience.
- Familiarity with lease administration and tenant billing processes.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based and fast-paced environment.
