Our client, a top 100 public accounting and consulting firm, is actively in search of a Tax Manager. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete, and timely preparation of all clients’ tax returns, making decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations.
This is a hybrid remote position, in which you will be required to go in-office on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
- Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to the various tax preparers as deemed necessary.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for advising clients.
- Perform all tasks related to client service, ensuring assignments are accomplished within budgeted time.
- Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Auditing and Accounting Department with larger clients.
- Act as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and staff on specific tax issues and/or questions.
- Assume tax preparation responsibility for the more complex business returns.
- Assume client service responsibility for clients the Tax Manager works directly with or clients where the responsibility is delegated from the Partner.
- Communicate important tax and tax developments affecting the firm’s clients to appropriate firm personnel.
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent the client before the appropriate taxing authorities.
- Ensure the smooth flow of tax returns through the tax preparation system to assure accurate, complete, and timely preparation and delivery of all clients’ tax returns.
- Adhere to accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
- Participate in firm practice development efforts through involvement with referral sources, community, and industry activities.
- Responsible for the development, coaching, and training of Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors, and Staff accountants.
- Must be familiar with the qualifications of all Tax staff members for the development and instruction of their training needs.
- Participate in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5 years’ tax experience within public accounting, including 1 year of prior supervisory.
- CPA license.
- Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in taxation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Salary Range: $132,000 – $150,000*
