We’re seeking a Payroll Manager to join our client’s growing team. The successful Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing and compliance within a multi-site environment. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on payroll expertise to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations. The Payroll Manager also provides guidance to internal stakeholders, supports audits, and continuously evaluates payroll systems and procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate execution of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
- Monitor and process payroll updates such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and generate reports as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Directors and Supervisors regarding payroll inquiries and issues.
- Provide records and documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Develop and perform internal payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Evaluate payroll systems and procedures, recommending improvements, as necessary.
- Manage and lead the payroll staff, including: hiring and training new staff, overseeing daily operations, conducting performance evaluations, and other duties as needed.
- Perform additional duties as designated by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of prior payroll processing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and payroll systems.
- Strong knowledge of California and federal wage and hour laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Proficient in ADP Workforce Now and eTime.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
- Experience in payroll operations within a healthcare, professional services, real estate environment.
- Demonstrated passion for customer service and proactive problem-solving.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
